The Information and Communication Technology Association of Malawi (ICTAM) proudly celebrates 20 years of service and impact, marking an important milestone since its establishment on 13 February. Over the past two decades, ICTAM has grown into a vibrant and influential professional body with over 1,000 members, playing a key role in shaping Malawi’s digital transformation and ICT profession. Strengthening the Foundation Throughout the years, ICTAM has continued to evolve and strengthen its institutional framework through several important milestones, including: Regional Collaboration ICTAM is also proudly affiliated with Technology Information Confederation Africa (TICON Africa), connecting the association with ICT professional bodies across the continent and strengthening collaboration with peers in Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, and beyond. This regional partnership enhances knowledge sharing, innovation, and collective growth within Africa’s technology ecosystem. ICTAM and MACRA Strengthen Collaboration

The ICT Association of Malawi (ICTAM) held a productive engagement meeting with the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) at MACRA’s Chichiri Head Offices in Blantyre, aimed at strengthening collaboration and advancing Malawi’s ICT sector. During the meeting, ICTAM President Mr. Clarence Gama outlined the Association’s key strategic priorities for the year. These include contributing to the development of the National Artificial Intelligence Policy, supporting the formulation and review of ICT-related policies and procedures, and playing an active role in driving national digital transformation. MACRA’s Acting Director General, Mr. Mayamiko Nkoloma, acknowledged ICTAM’s strategic importance within Malawi’s ICT ecosystem and encouraged the Association to further amplify its voice in advocating for improved quality of service across the sector. He emphasized the need for strong collaboration between regulators and industry stakeholders, particularly in addressing emerging challenges such as mobile money fraud and other issues affecting both consumers and service providers. The engagement reaffirmed the shared commitment between MACRA and ICTAM to work closely in building a robust, secure, and inclusive ICT sector, aligned with Malawi’s broader development and digital transformation goals.
