
ICTAM was formally registered as Information & Communication Technology Association of Malawi (Company No. 7747) on 13 February 2006, marking its official establishment as the national ICT body in Malawi.

The ICT Association of Malawi (ICTAM) in an umbrella body of all ICT professionals in Malawi. Our mission is to offer ICT leadership by catalyzing policy changes and by supporting related developments aimed at enabling Malawians to participate effectively in the modern technology-based global economy, benefiting the Nation and its partners.



ICTAM provides leadership for Malawi’s ICT ecosystem through a clear mission, an ambitious vision, and focused strategic objectives that advance sustainable digital transformation.
To provide leadership in ICT development by advancing innovation, policy advocacy, and skills development, enabling Malawians to participate competitively in the global digital economy.
To be the leading professional ICT body in Malawi, distinguished by integrity, excellence, and influential thought leadership.
Develop, promote, and uphold the integrity, professionalism, and competence of the ICT profession in Malawi.
Advocate for an enabling policy, regulatory, and legal environment that supports ICT growth and innovation.
Represent and coordinate diverse ICT stakeholders and professional associations under a unified national platform.
Promote sustainable growth through education, training, mentorship, and international exposure.
Facilitate the collection, dissemination, and exchange of ICT knowledge and best practices.
Strengthen collaboration with government, industry, academia, and civil society.
Implement ICT projects and initiatives that generate revenue to support institutional sustainability.
Advocate for and safeguard the interests of ICT professionals at national level.

ICTAM began holding its first Innovation Awards to showcase emerging ICT talent and also established permanent secretariat offices in Lilongwe, signaling a move toward more institutionalized operations and deeper engagement with stakeholders.

ICTAM announced the 2025 International ICT Expo, held from 5–6 June 2025 at the Bingu International Convention Centre, themed “Accelerating Malawi’s Digital Economy”. This national platform showcased innovation, professional development, and collaboration across the ICT ecosystem.

The ICT Association of Malawi signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of Marketing in Malawi to strengthen collaboration between the ICT and marketing sectors.
The partnership focuses on skills development, innovation, digital transformation, and professional capacity building to support Malawi’s growing digital economy.
